Siyabonga Nkosi returns to Naturena as Pirates confirms Chansa's departure.

According to Orlando Pirates' official website, it has been confirmed that Isaac Chansa has been sold to a Chinese club Henan Jianye FC. The Pirates statement reads: “Although the club would have liked to keep the African Cup of Nations winner at the team for the new season, the player had already expressed his intentions to move overseas for a fresh challenge and hence the club ceded to the players request.

“Chansa has represented the club with distinction since returning from his short stint in Sweden. The Zambian international was instrumental in both treble winning seasons for the Buccaneers.

“On behalf of the Orlando Pirates family we would like to wish Isaac Chansa all the best at his new club.” 

Meanwhile, after the signing of Zimbabwean striker Takesure Chinyama, Head Coach Augusto Palacios said that he is happy to have the player at the club by adding: “At Orlando Pirates we only want to bring the best players. He signed with the team because he is a good player. I like the way he makes his runs and he has good touches on the ball.

“He trained with us today and from what I could see, he is a player with tremendous potential; playing for Pirates is different – the players have very little time to adjust because this is a big club and the fans demand a lot from the players.

“He needs to gain match fitness and I hope he will give that depth in the team’s’ attack,” Palacios concluded. 

On the other hand, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed a surprise return of Siyabonga Nkosi to Naturena. We are all entitled to our own opinions but Nkosi's return to Chiefs doesn't seem like a good move at all. What are your thoughts?

Manchester United set for Cape Town against Ajax

After their 1-0 victory over Amazulu on Wednesday evening, Manchester United will be looking to continue where they left off when they will be up against Ajax Cape Town on 21/07/2012. United are in the process of preparing for next season’s English Premier League and will be making a whistle-stop tour of SA before heading off on their traditional pre-season trip to the Far East.

Ferguson has admitted there was plenty of rustiness against Amazulu, suggesting his players tired in the second half. He expects a better display against Ajax, and, aside from Kagawa, the Scot is likely to start with experienced internationals Anderson and Antonio Valencia.

With that being said and Ajax approaching crisis point, a positive performance and result would mean a lot to the players and management. Their failure to finish in the top eight and qualify for the MTN8 at the end of last season was a huge blow for a club that had finished second the season before.

Gordon Igesund inevitably named as Bafana Bafana coach.

It came as no surprise as the South African Football Association (SAFA) announced the appointment of Gordon Igesund as the new Bafana Bafana coach in Johannesburg on Saturday 30th June 2012. He was apparently handed a two year performance based contract: "I feel very honoured and privileged to be in charge of an asset like the national football team," Igesund said at the press conference at Safa House.

Does anyone remember when the majority of South African football fans cried for Igesund's appointment as Bafana Bafana coach? I do, but our football association made it all seem like their own brilliant idea; taking this whole process through a selection criteria which we all knew its outcome beforehand, hilarious! Gordon Igesund became Bafana Bafana coach long before his "official" appointment, and I am more than certain that no one can argue this fact. I feel sorry for poor Steve after proving that he has a certain degree of ability to make some positive changes in our national team as the head coach. Better luck next time Steve.

Let us all hope that Gordon will take us to the promised land as he has a mountain higher than Himalaya to climb. SAFA expects him to at least reach the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations which we will be hosting next year. Good luck Gordon!
